Public
consultation on the draft South Coast Scallop Managed Fishery Management Plan
The
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is undertaking
consultation on behalf of the Minister for Fisheries on the draft South
Coast Scallop Managed Fishery Management Plan (draft Management Plan).
The
draft Management Plan has been developed in accordance with the Fish
Resources Management Act 1994 (FRMA) to formalise the management approach
and secure access for current authorised operators.
In
accordance with s.64(2) of the FRMA, on 20 December 2024, the Minister for
Fisheries published a Notice in the Government Gazette stating his intention to determine a Management
Plan for the South Coast Scallop Managed Fishery (Fishery) and invites all
interested persons who wish to comment on the draft Plan to make representations in writing to the
Minister by
5 pm on 31 January 2025.
A
copy of the draft Management Plan is embedded in Fisheries Management Paper, which also provides additional information
regarding the Fishery and the key management elements proposed to be formalised
under the Management Plan.
