​Application for the grant of a Pearl Oyster Farm Lease – Cygnet Bay Consolidated Pty Ltd

On 18 December 2023, in accordance with section 22 of the Pearling Act 1990, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) received an application from Cygnet Bay Consolidated Pty Ltd for the grant of a Pearl Oyster Farm Lease in Cape Villaret.

Pursuant to Administration Guideline 1 Assessment of Applications for Authorisations for Aquaculture and Pearling in Coastal Waters of Western Australia, Item 3.4.7, DPIRD is inviting public comment on the application.

Public consultation on the draft Western Australian Octopus Resource Harvest Strategy

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is undertaking consultation on the draft Western Australian (WA) Octopus Resource Harvest Strategy.

WA Octopus Resource Harvest Strategy​ 

The publication of a harvest strategy for an aquatic resource makes decision-making considerations and processes publicly transparent and provides a basis for informed dialogue on management actions with resource users and other stakeholders.
Harvest strategies contain specific objectives, performance indicators, reference levels and harvest control rules for the defined ecological assets.
