Our library, located at the Western Australian Fisheries and Marine Research Laboratories in Hillarys, has a comprehensive collection of fisheries, aquaculture and aquatic science books and journals.
The library has connections with other marine and aquatic science libraries through IAMSLIC (the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers).
Services, facilities and opening hours
Professionally-trained staff are available to help you make full use of the library collections. Subject-specific databases are available on CD ROM. An inter-library loans service is also available.
The library is open to the public, who may use it as a reference library; direct borrowing is restricted to Department of Fisheries (Western Australia) employees.
Most of the library collection can be borrowed through academic, government, local or other registered libraries using the inter-library loan system (see your library for details). Charges may apply.
Aquaculture Development Fund collection of books
The library holds a special collection of aquaculture books, funded through the Aquaculture Development Fund. Although these titles cannot be directly borrowed from the Fisheries library, Australian residents may borrow them using an interlibrary loan through your local or institution library. Contact the library for more information.
The library is open from 9am - 12 noon and 2pm - 4pm Monday to Friday (access may be available outside these hours - phone for details). The library is closed during public holidays.
