Online user roles

Online user roles have been created to give fisheries business licence/certificate holders control over the level of access others can have to transact or view confidential information on the holders’ behalf.

A number of roles have been created specifically for Managed Fishery Licence (MFL) and Registered Receiver Certificate /Processor Licence (RRC/PROL) Holders. Each role has a different level of access to information and transaction services linked to the nominating licence/certificate holder. You can nominate a person into more than one role, if required

It is important that you read about each role and understand the access you are authorising before nominating a person to an online user role.

Fish Eye online user roles for MFL holders

  • MFL Online Operator
MFL Holders who want to use the Fish Eye system must nominate at least one MFL Online Operator.

An MFL Online Operator conducts important business transactions on behalf of the MFL Holder. This includes nominating Masters, viewing the history of all transactions linked to the associated MFL and viewing an MFL's entitlement remaining, viewing industry reports on consumption by zone, applying for Temporary Transfer of Entitlement and renewing a commercial fishing licence.
  • Master
A Master is authorised to submit Trip Returns on behalf of the MFL Holder using online services or CatchER. This includes the Pre-Fishing, Pre-Landing and Post-Landing nomination forms, and all other catch, disposal and consumption information.

A Master can also view the MFL’s entitlement remaining and submit ‘change requests’ to amend any incorrect information they have submitted in their previous Trip Returns. Change requests will be subject to our approval.

Masters are also able to renew commercial fishing licences online.

Note: MFL Holders who wish to use online services or CatchER must nominate themselves into the relevant role(s).

If you use the existing paper Catch and Disposal Record (CDR) and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, you will also need to nominate your Master using IVR. The  ET-2 form is for nominations on Fish Eye only.

Fish Eye online user roles for RRCs/PROL holders

RRC/PROL Online Operator
RRC/PROL Holders who want to use the Fish Eye system must nominate at least one RRC/PROL Online Operator.

The RRC/PROL Online Operator can use Fish Eye Online Services to submit consignment records on behalf of the RRC/PROL Holder. They can also use Fish Eye online services to submit ‘change requests’ to amend any incorrect information submitted in previous consignment records. All change requests are subject to our approval.

The RRC/PROL Online Operator can also view the history of all transactions linked to the associated RRC/PROL. Note: RRC/PROL Holders who wish to use Fish Eye Online Services must nominate themselves into the relevant role.

Important information

Individuals must be nominated to an online user role by the relevant fisheries business licence/certificate holder(s) using the nomination form. To use and access Fish Eye Online Services and CatchER, nominated individuals must also be registered with Fish Eye using the registration form.

Registered users who are not nominated into any user role will have limited access to the services on the Fish Eye system.
