Dhufish recreational fishing

Most recreational fishing for West Australian dhufish is done by boat-based fishers in the West Coast Bioregion.

We manage recreational fishing by using daily bag limits, among other measures. When fishing with the use of a powered vessel, a Recreational Fishing from Boat Licence is required.

Limited open seasons for recreational scalefish are in place for recreational fishers in the West Coast Bioregion. Any WA dhufish caught outside of these seasons must be returned to the water immediately.

It is compulsory to possess a release weight when fishing for demersal fish, including WA dhufish, on a Statewide basis.

Information on recreational fishing rules for WA dhufish can be found online or in our Recreational fishing guide.
