Dr Samantha Bridgwood is a marine ecologist with a broad marine science knowledge base and project management experience.
She currently runs various biosecurity-related projects for Fisheries but has also run other research programs, including analysing hydrodynamic effects on WA seagrass landscapes and the effects of no-take zones on sessile invertebrate communities.
Dr Bridgwood has been with Fisheries for eight years and worked in the area of biosecurity for six years. During this time she has developed and managed the implementation and reporting of Australian marine pest monitoring designs for four of WA’s high-risk ports under the National System for the Prevention and Management of Marine Pests.
She has also designed and managed delimiting surveys following introduced marine pest detections (emergency responses), developed research proposals for external bodies and developed and/or collaborated on other biosecurity-related projects within our Marine Biosecurity Research and Monitoring section.
She maintains an excellent working relationship with relevant WA stakeholder groups and contributes biosecurity advice to our Aquatic Environment branch.
