Government of Western Australia - Department of Fisheries

Dr Emily Fisher

Dr Emily Fisher completed a PhD at Murdoch University in 2012, which focused on developing and testing the robustness of several methods for assessing data-limited fisheries. These included a management strategy evaluation (MSE) model relevant to many recreational and smaller commercial fisheries, and several methods for estimating mortality of fish species which exhibit variable recruitment, have recently undergone a change in management or undertake size-related offshore movements.

Dr Fisher worked part-time at Fisheries for several years on a number of recreational fishing surveys but joined the Stock Assessment and Data Analysis branch full-time in June 2013 to work on Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) assessments.

Her main areas of interest and expertise include fisheries stock assessments and recreational fishing surveys.
