Broome's Town Beach fishing jetty officially opened

    • New fishing jetty at Broome's Town Beach now open to the public
    • $3 million McGowan Government WA Recovery Plan investment delivers facility for the community and visitors
    • Final stage of the $24 million Town Beach precinct redevelopment now complete
Broome locals and visitors will have a new place to wet a line in the pristine waters of Roebuck Bay, with the new Town Beach fishing jetty officially opened today.

The McGowan Government allocated $3 million to the Shire of Broome for the project as part of the WA Recovery Plan.

The 112 metre accessible jetty is built on the former site of the historical Broome jetty and will allow Broome locals and visitors to walk out over Roebuck Bay, access small vessels, enjoy Staircase to the Moon events and try their luck at fishing.

The jetty project was delivered by the Shire of Broome, in partnership with the Kimberley Development Commission and Department of Transport.

The fishing jetty was the final stage of the broader $24 million Town Beach precinct redevelopment, which included a rock revetment seawall, coastal footpath, groyne, grassed terrace area and play space, which won a prestigious National Parks and Leisure Award.
