The Department from time to time requires the assistance of community members to undertake project-based education and research activities across the state.
An important change occurred in 2008 with our volunteers now referred to as ‘Fisheries Volunteers'. This marks a significant shift in project work towards environmental education. Our former program, called the Volunteer Fisheries Liaison Officer program, still lives on through our core education philosophy – Fish for the Future.
The new Fisheries Volunteer scheme gives you greater flexibility to be involved in activities that are of interest to you, not restricted to one area of the State; and you can decide on the level of commitment that suits you.
More information will become available soon.
Please contact the Coordinator – Education and Volunteers (michael.burke@fish.wa.gov.au) to register your interest.
