Aquaculture Licensing Forms

These forms are to be used in appling for an Aquaculture licence and are to be lodged with the Executive Director of Fisheries WA at the address indicated, together with any additional information required in support of the application (additional information requirements for species are available for download below, this includes the main application form and the information sheets as a complete kit for each species).

Aquaculture is a developing industry in Western Australia and licensing policies for specific aquaculture species are under constant review. Applicants should therefore ensure that the latest information is obtained from the Department of Fisheries on current and proposed licensing policies for the fish species that are the subject of the aquaculture proposal.

If the aquaculture proposal affects land other than private land - eg. Crown Land or waters (including coastal waters), a more detailed set of guidelines and an additional information sheet is available.

There are Additional Information Sheets for the following species. The relevant sheet(s) must be completed and submitted with this Application Form.

Marron		[104k]
	There are two types of Aquaculture licence for marron. They are the "Marron" (formerly “Marron - Unrestricted”) “Marron - Restricted” "Marron - Limited" (formerly “Marron - Farm Dam Trapping”). The criteria for the grant of each type of licence may be found on the Marron Information Sheet.
Yabbies, Koonacs & Gilgies		[38k]
	There are two types of licences available for yabbies, koonacs and gilgies. They are commonly known as "Growers" "Harvesters" The criteria for each type of licence may be found on the Yabbie/Koonac/Gilgie Information Sheet.
Trout		[35k]
	Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Inland FinFish (eg Black Bream)		[34k]
	Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Ornamental Fish		[34k]
	Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The application must specify the species of ornamental fish to be cultured.
Red Claw CrayFish		[34k]
	Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with Fisheries Management Paper No.100.
Silver Perch		[34k]
	Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with Fisheries Management Paper No.145
Barramundi		[83k]
	Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with Fisheries Management Paper No.159.
All other fish (including marine species)		[34k]
	Applications will be considered on their respective merits. An Additional Information sheet together with associated instructions is available from the Department of Fisheries.
Coastal Water or large scale land based proposals		[108k]
	Applications involving Coastal Water or large scale land based proposals will need an Additional Information Sheet to support the application for an Aquaculture Licence
Marking and Lighting Guidance Statement		[288k]
	This form must be completed by ALL applicants applying for new sites or variations to existing Aquaculture Licences in Coastal Waters. It must be lodged with the Department at the same time as the Application Form.
Application for the Variation of an Authorization		[57k]

Conditions

An Aquaculture licence is issued subject to the conditions set out in Regulation 69 of the Fish Resources Management Regulations 1995 and as may be specified in the licence by the Executive Director (who may vary or cancel a condition by notice in writing).

Where facsimile applications are submitted, the original application form must be submitted to the Department of Fisheries.

The prescribed application fee for applications relating to non-freehold land or freehold land are available here. These fees must accompany this application.

Applicants should be aware that the details disclosed in this Application may be recorded on the Licence Register and be available for public search.
