Dr James Penn

Dr James Penn’s fields of expertise include specialist invertebrate fisheries biology and stock assessment, commercial and recreational fisheries management systems and strategies, and fisheries and marine environmental risk assessment.

Dr Penn has experience in the development and planning of marine research infrastructure, and the planning and management of aquatic research project teams.

His research career has involved 20 years as a fisheries scientist and 18 years as Director of the Fisheries Research Division.

During this career and following retirement, he has operated as a fisheries research and management consultant for FAO and other international fisheries agencies.
