Baitfish and feral freshwater species

The bag and size limit table below is effective from 1 February 2013, as part of the new Statewide Recreational fishing guide. If fishing from a boat ensure you are familiar with the Recreational Fishing From Boat licence rules.

Bag and size limits

​ Species​ Daily bag limit​
scaly mackerel illustration
Baitfishsardine, anchovy and hardy head
Families Clupeidae, Engralidae and Atherinidae (mulies, whitebait, scaly mackerel – pictured)​
​A combined daily bag limit of 9 litres
redfin perch illustration
Feral freshwater species such as carp, tilapia, goldfish and redfin perch (pictured)
Families Cyprinidae and Cichlidae and Perca fluviatilis
No bag limit – do not return to the water.
Dispatch humanely.​
