Strong support for Western Australia’s new international lobster festival

Creative ideas for WA’s first-ever international lobster festival are expected to flow.

The lobster festival was announced earlier this month as part of an innovative plan and industry development package to grow the State’s western rock lobster industry and bring greater benefits to the WA community.

A working group has been appointed to provide advice to Government on establishing the festival and what is needed to make it a world class event.

Representatives from the Australian Hotels Association, Tourism Council WA and the Western Australian Local Government Authority have been appointed to the working group to collaborate with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

Local government, community groups and industry are invited to make a submission on how to shape the festival and to help government determine the best location.

Submissions can be emailed to and will close on Thursday, 7 February 2018.
